  • Throwback to the gorgeous lakeside ceremony and cocktail reception over looking the Adirondack mountains. I’m a huge fan of market umbrellas to create both shade and a bit of glam.

new things I did in my first year of being thirty: pushed the seasonal edges of kayaking and finished the water sampling component of the USDA project. This year I went #kayaking in early spring and early winter, in cold steel gray waters and through clinking ice floes. I #kayaked past geese building their nests, then sitting on eggs, and then - sadly - forlorn geese after the heavy late spring rains flooded their nests. I love love the stillness and sounds. The #laplatte #river is one of my favorite spring places. Part of my #graduate #fieldwork was sampling water from #agricultural fields to understand how to make sure less ag runoff gets into these watery paths to #lakechamplain . This year we finally closed down the #water sampling sites after 3+ years of #vermont research. It was one of my least favorite parts of #gradschool data collection, but I still love contemplating water. #29daysofthirty
