  • To the heart's carrying pain, this is for you ❤️I know you wish to have someone who you could talk to. Really talk. All those things you keep buried, everything you've swallowed despite it feeling like a lump of cement in your throat... Yes I'm referring to those very things.
I know you wish you could carve your heart out and place it in trustful hands, a faltering voice saying "Here, this is me. Thread with grace among the sinews filled with pain." Someone who, after it all, could look into your eyes with understanding and acceptance.

I know you want to talk, until your jaws hurt and your head feels like electric currents are flowing through it, spilling everything that is weighing down your heart and shoulders. Someone who listens without trying to relate it to themselves, who wouldn’t compete for who is more sadder between the two, who wouldn’t say that there are worse things in the world than your pain.
Perhaps you do have someone, a spouse, a friend. Yet you hold it within because you love them so much that you cannot imagine transferring your pain onto them. You wish not to see the helplessness and ache in their eyes when they realize they cannot heal you or remove that pain from your heart completely. We keep the darkness buried and hide away parts of ourselves whilst adding layers of masks to our brave face.
Today I am here to tell you that pain is not meant to be removed. You swallow it, but it does not consume you. Just as happiness should be shared, so should your pain. We need more connections. We need more deep water conversations. We need to talk about our lowest moments and fears. We need to be vulnerable. The right people are not going to be scared of your pain. They will remain because pain is one thing we all share. It's what connects us and at the same time disconnects us.

Don't look back and see fragments of yourself, choose to see how much you’ve grown out of that misery, and who you are today.
