My least favorite experience of life. It kind of came out of nowhere for me, I didn’t know why I had it going on. Going to see a counselor helped me see what was off, she pointed it out. I knew I was anxious, but depression?! I was appalled at myself for having such a diagnosis. I’m supposed to have joy, right? I wasn’t supposed to be sad. It’s such an ugly word.
Well, for a long time, depression woke me up in the morning. This is when I coined the terms “cloudy” and “sunshine” to describe to others what I felt like. If you’ve never experienced depression, I genuinely want to describe it so you can better understand. It is like a crushing weight on your chest, sucking out energy and the ability to think clearly, it altered my thoughts so that everything was guilt-ridden, it was hard to believe other people liked me, it made me cry frequently throughout the day. Upon waking, before bed, in between classes, etc.
Here’s the thing. Mine got better. I started taking medicine that I am still on and tremendously thankful for. No one likes talking about being sad, like I said, I don’t like having to have ever dealt with this. But rather than being sensitive to the fact that it may bum someone out, let me speak directly to you - the one walking through depression.
You, don’t you DARE believe you are a bummer. You are a human with both highs and lows like everyone else. It is OKAY to have to take medication. It is OKAY to need help. It is going to be OKAY. Depression is not you, you are not depression. Things do get better!
Hope these guides help someone out. Remember, not everything works for everyone - these are just ideas to be taken lightly from an artist - not a counselor! 💙

Artist what have you done today for YOUR career??? You should at least be doing one thing in the morning and another in the afternoon. DON'T give me that nonsense you don't have time. It only takes 10-20 to listen to podcast on how to market your music. Write down one of the options that you heard in the podcast. We all have time to think. Start thinking how to put what you wrote on that paper into actions. Or take 10 mins to interact with your supporters on your social media pages and scroll through and comment back on those who took the time to support you. If you are really serious EVERY DAY you should be proactive in pushing your career further.
My daily goal is to do two things for each client to move them closer to their short term goals and/or start moving them through the next necessary steps.
I reached out to booking agents for one client. I was happy to get rapid replies, with amazing feedback. Each one was picked out after a lengthy research. Take the time to see how your brand fits with anyone you decide to partner with. Even if you are unable to work with them now don't just ignore their email that they so kindly replied to you. THANK THEM FOR THEIR TIME!
