  • St. Tryphon Cathedral, perhaps the main attraction of Kotor, dating from 1166 year. It is protected by UNESCO. The cathedral clearly stands out among the low buildings of Kotor. Inside are the relics of Saint Tryphon. Did not shoot the cathedral - means you have not been in Kotor.🕌

  • The church of St. Luke was built in 1195 as indicated by the tablet from the western part of the temple. The church is one of the main attractions of Kotor, and all because after the powerful earthquake in 1979, it was not damaged. We recommend to look inside, because today this church is one of the few churches that has both Catholic and Orthodox altars at once.

  • Church of the Virgin Mary of the River - one of the most recognizable sights of Kotor, thanks to the high bell tower. This Church of the 13th century became the storage place of the relics of the venerated Kotor saint - "Blessed Osanna". Also pay attention to its doors with 24 pictures depicting scenes from the life of Old Kotor. It is located near the river gates and occupies a fairly large area, so it is impossible to pass by it.

• Monarch class coastal defence ships post 2.
Pic 1-6 sms Budapest launched in 1896. Design details and common class history in post 1. The other ships in class could reach 15 knots but Budapest had better engines and could reach 17.8 knots. By ww1 they were outdated but served as the 5th battleship division. They failed to drive out french artillery from mount lovcen montenegro and were next left at cattaro on guard till the 1917. Budapest and wien were sent to guard trieste and were each given a 66mm AA . in november they attacked italian troops in the gulf of trieste where they knocked out all the enemy guns in several hours of battle. Seeking revenge italy sent 2 torpedo boats to trieste and sunk wien. In december it shelled castellazzo. In 1918 it was made a barracks ship for submarine crews. It had a 38 cm howitzer added for land attacks but lack of ammo meant it never entered combat again. After ww1 it was given to great britain and scrapped in 1921.

Pic 7-9 sms wien launched in 1895. Design details and common history in post 1. It served in the international blockade of crete during the greco turkish war and attended queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. It had modern radios installed in 1903. In may it was sent to protect austro hungarian interests in salonica after terrorist attacks against imperial citizens. After many training cruises it was outdated by the creation of new dreadnoughts. By ww1 its class formed the 5th division and was sent to drive French artillery from mount lovcen but failed. In 1917 it and its sister Budapest were sent to guard trieste and shelled Italian troops in the gulf of trieste which was a major success. In december italy took revenge by sending 2 torpedo boats which sunk the wien killing 46 crew. For the disaster district leader admiral von koudelka along with both ship captains and the navy defence commander of trieste were court marshaled. After ww1 italy salvaged the ship and its stern is now at the museo storico navale in venice.

  • Monarch class coastal defence battleship of austria hungary post 1. The 1st ships of its type to use turrets their were 3 ships in the class the monarch the wien and the Budapest. They were built in the 1890s had a crew of 469 were 99.22m0 meters long weighed 5878 tonnes had armor between 11-270mm. Monarch and wien could reach speeds of 15.5 knots and Budapest could reach 17.5 knots. They were armed with 4×240mm guns 6×150mm guns 1×7cm AA gun 2×66mm landing guns 10×47mm quickfire guns 4×47mm guns 1×8mm machine guns 4 torpedo tubes. By the 1890s the habsburg fleet had few ships so it was decided to build new ones the naval strategy of the empire at the time focused on coastal defence so the new class would be light short range ships. The ships were used often in training cruises and showing the empires naval power in foreign waters. They were involved in queen Victoria's diamond jubilee and the international blockade of crete in the greco turkish war of 1897. The creation of the empires first pre dreadnoughts made the monarch class obsolete. In 1904 the 3 habsburg class dreadnoughts trained against the 3 monarch class ships was the 1st time 2 homogeneous squadrons of modern battleships operated in the habsburg fleet. By ww1 they were formed into the 5th battkeship division. Early in the war they were used for training coastal defence and bombarding positions in Montenegro. In 1915 Budapest participated in the aborted raid on durazzo. In 1917 they bombarded italian forces at the gulf of trieste. In december 2 italian torpedo boats entered trieste and sunk the wien afterwards Budapest became a barracks ship. After the war the 2 remaining ships were given to great Britain who sold them as scrap to italy in 1920.
Last pics are sms monarch launched in 1895. Its design details are shown above but it also had a 66mm AA gun. After it was commissioned it visited foreign ports from turkey to spain and had new siemens braun radio installed. They were rarely used after the creation of the new dreadnoughts. During ww1 they forned the 5th division and were sent to the bay of kotor to shell mount lovcen Montenegro but their guns were not strong enough meaning a dreadnought

  • You can enter Kotor through one of the 3 gates, and through which - you decide. Now that there are no medieval wars, the gates of the city are happy to let everyone in. The main gate is the Sea Gate, the Gurdic Gate is equipped with a lifting bridge, and the River gate opens through a stone bridge.
