  • 🤔You've probably heard about the Neutral Spine Theory. AKA you should ALWAYS BE NEUTRAL .
    This is generally a good idea when lifting weights, but is it ever OK to break that rule ... YES! DUH! You should have a solid foundational awareness of WHAT IS NEUTRAL and when you are NOT in neutral. .
    📌If you have back pain...stay neutral. However, after the rehab phase, it's time to graduate to another level of sophistication

    For example, how would you run with a BRACED core, or throw without going through extension-flexion, or try rolling or tumbling or grappling, or a million other examples. SILLY, RIGHT?

    📌 SUMMARY: Neutral spine is good. It's necessary for back rehab and for lifting heavy weights. HOWEVER, it's not mean't to be your permanent position for the rest of time.

    -Учитель, у меня вот тут жуткая травма была, конечности почти все отваливаются, я стал терять вес и сил почти нет. Доктора запретили мне заниматься спортом, и я пришел на йогу, тут же не нужно напрягаться. Я сегодня уже второй раз и мне жутко захотелось стоять на голове как в интернете я видел. Я там в дальнем темном уголке попробовал сам один, упал конечно, где-то что-то хрустнуло и теперь голова кружится. Но, Учитель, вы же специалист, поставьте меня на голову, жуть как хочется!!!

    These are ab exercises I’ve used over the years with all of my clients. You’ll notice there are no crunches in here with the exception of the hanging leg raise - which you could call a reverse crunch.

    While I’m not 100% “anti-crunch”, I do think most people will benefit from other exercises if time is limited.

    Even with this list, if you have limited time to work out, I’d do very little direct ab work and focus on big, compound movements. Even more important will be focusing your diet on lean proteins and delicious vegetables. Those 2 components are more important in seeing your abs come out.

    That being said, direct core work is fun and extremely beneficial in protecting your low back and creating stability and mobility throughout the rest of your body.

  • I’m not saying that I never do crunches and basic exercises, but most of the time it’s more about Functional Core Training. .

    Here is a Tri-Set that I personally do and incorporate in a lot of my athletes training programs. .
    .
    Exercise 1: Keep a good base on the stab ball with your weight loaded more toward the front. Keep knees close to a 90 degree angle. Make sure to extend arms overhead to create a stretch through your core and contract to generate force. .
    .
    Exercise 2: Maintain athletic stance, keep your arms almost fully extended and firm. That will assure you are rotating with your core not you upper body. Be careful not to shorten the movement, keep a good rotation throughout. .
    .
    Exercise 3: Feet should be just inside shower width and maintain an upright position. Make sure the MB goes overhead with each rotation. On each slam focus on bending (crunching) from mid core. Don’t squat to generate force, utilize your core. .
