  • I just found this in my archive. I shot 29 images of the Moon setting from various positions across Old Edinburgh that night and this one was never shared. Having looked at it, I note its one of the sharpest from the crop and I can see all the details crisply which is pleasing as it was blowing a gale when I took this. Windy night and tripods is always fun!
    .
So, with no more delay, here be the unveiling of THE last shot, unshared from that night. We'l call this, shot 29....the lost shot. Actually, let's just call it "Moon setting by Edinburgh Castle" as that's what it is 😉

  • Happy Saturday everyone! 😊

Today I fancied sharing a shot of Edinburgh’s iconic Victoria Street - the inspiration behind JK Rowling’s ‘Diagon Alley’ in the Harry Potter books! 🧙‍♂️✨ I got this pic back in November of last year but never actually shared it with you guys!

Located in Edinburgh’s Old Town, Victoria Street was built between 1829 and 1834 with the aim of improving access to the city from the west!

Prior to the creation of Victoria Street, the only route into the city from the west was via the old West Bow - a very steep and narrow Z-shaped street that was particularly awkward for carriages to get up!

Much of the old West Bow was demolished to make way for Victoria Street which provided an easier to navigate curved link up from the Grassmarket to the newly-created George IV Bridge!

Victoria Street was originally called Bow Street; it was renamed after Queen Victoria was crowned in 1837 as a way of honouring the new monarch!

  • As nice as the weather is right now... I feel like we’re about to be hit with the beast from the east and get covered in snow again.
So I’m going to enjoy the weather while it lasts 🌞
