  • “When a woman loses weight, whether on purpose or due to illness or trauma, weight loss comments are *inescapable.* These comments can do harm. They reinforce the lie that thinner is best, healthiest, and worth any cost. They serve as motivation for sick people to continue unhealthy behaviors and devastate people dealing with illness or depression or less access to food. When (nearly everyone) regains the weight, all those compliments become silence and shame sets in.
✖️Think of it this way: Most of us fluctuate in weight for natural and unnatural reasons. When you've lost weight, have you had lots of well-meaning friends compliment you with those types of "You've never looked better!!" comments? I know I have! And guess what? Almost all of us will gain weight again at some point. And when those compliments stop, it is so easy to let body shame sink in that tells us we're only valuable and attractive and worthy when we are thinner and take up less space. ✖️And too often, those body-centric compliments are exactly the motivation someone needs to continue down an unhealthy pathway of abusing unsafe diet pills or over-exercising or disordered eating. Even just seeing those body-based comments on someone else’s pictures online over and over again can send someone else down that dangerous pathway. Other times, a disease or other illness could be causing her to lose weight beyond her control and “You look so skinny!” is the exact wrong type of "compliment" she needs at the moment. We can do so much better than constant body policing. ✖️We are so much more than bodies to be looked at and our dialogue can reflect that. We can build up the women around us by pointing out our awesomeness in every other way -- our talents, kindness, character, humor, uniqueness, countenance, intelligence, etc! Women are more than bodies. Let’s show the world that truth be seeing more, being more, and saying more.”- @beauty_redefined

  • What is your purpose?

You want to talk about an overwhelming, overconsuming question that is it. First things first, we need to let ourselves off the hook a bit; we need to stop believing that fulfilling our purpose means we have to change the world. That is not true. Purpose allows us to use our gifts to change those we come in contact with but it does not require us to become extremely powerful or popular to use those gifts. The fate of changing the whole world will fall on very few people, but the ability to use our purpose, to be a positive influence in this world, that will fall on all of us. And for some it may only be one person, for others it may be thousands, but it will be each and every one of us living out the purpose in our life.  And let me be very clear I do not and will not claim to be any expert on this. But I do understand that deep desire to find your purpose and better understand it. And from all my own searching I gained some (small) understanding about how you can start realizing your purpose in this life.

  • Where did you went for an amazing photoshoot? I want to explore new places, indoor and outdoors. Do you know a place with a great mural, or colorful walls, or indoors with lots of natural light? 😊😊
