  • my answer to #4 on my last post: 10 ways i personally benefit from white privilege-
    1. i'm not at risk to be subjected to police brutality by reasons of race
    2. people don't think i'm unprofessional because of the way i naturally look or talk, and i'm not denied opportunities because of those things
    3. i have the option to hide in my own little world and tune racism out, while black people can't escape their reality
    4. i'm not as likely to end up in the school-to-prison pipeline. i was never treated shitty by my teachers or peers for my race. i wasn't targeted, blamed for things i didn't do, or overpunished by teachers for my race
    5. being black AND trans is harder than being white and trans. painfully rejected by society. the life expectancy of a black trans woman in the US is 35.
    6. black women are pressured to be superwomen. they have to work many times harder to keep and maintain the same positons as white folks and black men
    7. i'm trusted to tell my own stories, because i'm white. white people (en large) don't trust black people's accounts of their lives--they think they're exaggerating, lying, or "playing the race card." one example: some people thought jussie smollett was lying about being attacked 😠
    8. the government and police never spread drugs in my community
    9. i don't have historical trauma in my genes from what happened to my ancestors
    10. if i was assaulted by someone, people would be more likely to pay attention. the r kelly survivors said the reason he got away with his abuse is that society doesn't care about black girls
“The most disrespected woman in America is the black woman. The most unprotected woman in America is the black woman. The most neglected woman in America is the black woman.” - Malcolm X
