  • Patron Anejo Tequila (Aged tequila)
    Tasting notes according to WSET level 4 SAT of spirits:
    Appearance:
    The spirit is clear, pale lemon. It has legs.

    Nose:
    It's clean with medium intensity, with aromas of:
    Burnt sugar, molasses, honey, nutty, grain, toast, sherry, coffee, agave, bell pepper, oily.
    It's matured.

    Palate:
    It's dry, with warming alcohol.
    It has medium body and flavour intensity, with flavours of:
    Caramel, toast, sherry, agave.
    The finish is medium in length with some (or more)complexity.

    How to identify it in a blind tasting?
    With the presence of colour, this spirit should not be original vodka, gin or any other unaged colourless spirit.
    Should not be calvados as the absence of apple/cidar character
    Should not be whisky as the absence of grain-dominant character.
    Should not be aged rum as the absence of molasses-dominant character.
    Should not be cognac or Armagnac as the absence of fruity character.
    With a dominant of oak and agave character, it points to aged tequila.
    Due to the roundness and smoothness, it should be aged more than a Reposado; That’s why it should be anejo.
    Note:
    As with any aged spirit, the aged oaky character somehow masked the aroma of the base material (Agave, vegetal and bell pepper).

    This estate each names in its own way: "The Taj Mahal of Saint Estephe", "Oriental luxury in Western lands", "The embodiment of a dream" ... But all remain unanimous: Cos d'Estournel is undoubtedly one of the icons of winemaking Bordeaux region in France. The building is located at the very entrance to Saint Estephe, and therefore, due to certain historical events, he had the honor of becoming the face of the appellation.

    Cos d'Estournel was founded by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel in 1791. Then he acquired 14 hectares of vineyards on a deep gravel plateau, which was called "Cos" (from the Gascon dialect translated as "pebble hill"). This plateau is still the core of the estate. From it are two slopes: one - gravel, the other - clay.
    During his lifetime, Louis Gaspard expanded the vineyard from 14 to 45 hectares. Deeply believing in the philosophy of the terroir, he selected only the best areas.

    Neglecting the Bordeaux merchant system, Louis himself personally decided to promote the wines of his estate. A little later, enthusiasm brought him to India, where already in 1838 British officers in those places very much appreciated his wine.
    A few years before the Cos d'Estournel was classified by the 2-m Grand Cru Classe, Louis passed away. But left behind a constant commitment to excellence, which is still the philosophy of the estate.

    The most important stage in the history of Cos d'Estournel began in 2000, when Michel Reybier took over the management of the estate. In the initial period of his "reign," several programs and measures were developed and carried out to improve the appearance of the Cos, its premises, and of course the vineyards.
    Now Cos d'Estournel is 100 hectares of carefully researched superb vineyards, an iconic castle and inextinguishable traditions that are passed down from generation to generation. As many already know, the status of the estate is now the “Super Second” Grand Cru, since it is fully on par with the first, only the classification will not change.
