My history with Vday is shaky at best. I am so inspired by love and moved to express it in all I create. This piece was made from a sad place and I hid it away for years. My friend Soni Moreno was brave enough to buy it, wear it and changed my mind about what it expressed. A wounded heart that’s not defeated, still intact and beautiful! Enjoy this day of love y’all! ⭐️@arjuna.r.p ⭐️ The website is live, the art is dope. I’m happy.
@caracolia interviewed me about my work. It was fun! It helps that it’s Lía 🥰 #Reposting @caracolia with @instarepost_app -- “It’s about the shape and what I believe I can do with it. It’s like a vessel holding some energy and I have to cover it. You put your energy into it.
I love glass more than probably anything. The beads I use are glass. 90% of my work is glass. The way it captures light & color and combines it... the way they feel like they hold energy.
That bottle.. we all drank it in my house, and the bottle was so… linear. I liked the shape and started gluing things to it, but then I had to go to work. And then life happened: I moved, I left [Puerto Rico]. Then one day unpacking I was like ‘holy shit, I totally forgot’ but they sat there for another few months until I started taking one down. I picked up this last one and I couldn’t stop. You know how little kids are when they don’t wanna go to sleep? That’s how I was with that bottle. Falling asleep sititing up. I wanted to see what it looked like. What will it look like? Love?
The colors… I started gatherting beads that looked like springtime, like life.. and it started making itself. I started remembering things that were around that could work. I would pick up something and if it didn’t feel right I didn’t use it...
There’s something inside that just takes you to the thing that it wants. Sometimes when I finish I look at it and I’m like, who made this?” ✨🦋🔮🔸
